OVERALL AIM

The aim is to develop international understanding of the ways in which institutional and state/system policies can, and arguably should, be developed or modified to promote the integration of the core activities of teaching, research and scholarship and, increasingly "service" or "knowledge transfer" (scholarship of engagement). 

DELEGATES

Delegates will be a  mixture of academics who have studied this subject and policy makers both from the UK and such overseas countries as USA, Australia, New Zealand,  Canada, South Africa, Portugal, Germany, Hungary, Sweden, and Sierra Leone.

MAIN SPEAKERS -

Thursday 19 April
The keynote speaker is Stephen Rowland (University College London) followed later by Paul Ramsden (Higher Education Academy)

Friday 20 April
There is first a presentation by Lewis Elton (University College London) and Lydia Hartwig (Bavarian State Institute for Higher Education Research and Planning, Germany) The session is then opened by Mick Healey (University of Gloucestershire) and Alan Jenkins (Oxford Brookes University). Others presenters include Angela Brew (University of Sydney, Australia), Carol Colbeck (Penn State University, USA), Kerri-Lee Krause (Griffith University, Australia), Theda Skocpol, (Harvard University, USA), Liz Beaty (Higher Education Funding Council for England), Linda Slakey (National Science Foundation, USA), Ian Lyne (Research Council UK), Voldemar Tomusk (Open Society Institute, Hungary), Bob Mathieu (University of Wisconsin- Madison, USA) and Christine Pfund (University of Wisconsin- Madison, USA)

Saturday 21 April
This will be a plenary session, looking both back and forward to the future and The International Colloquium will be closed by Roger Brown
